Sliding Glass Door Repair Cost Estimator
Pick what the door is doing, how big it is, where it lives, and how many you need looked at, and this gives you the range you would hear on the phone. It is built from the same prices published on the pricing page and it does not ask for an email.
Two honest notes before you use it. The service call covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is usually applied to the repair rather than charged on top of it, which is why it is the starting point here. And no calculator can see the thing that most often changes a sliding door quote: whether the track survived the rollers. New wheels on a pitted rail wear out in a season, so a roller job on an oceanfront door frequently comes back as rollers plus a stainless track cap. If your rail has a bright, flattened stripe along it, plan for both.
What each answer changes
- What is wrong picks the part family, and it is the biggest single lever. Rollers are the most common repair on this coast and land at the bottom; glass is the most expensive thing that is still a repair rather than a replacement. If you are not sure which you have, the problems pages walk through the five-minute checks, starting with hard to slide.
- Door size scales the hardware. An 8-foot or oversized panel can weigh three times what a light 5-foot panel weighs, which means heavier roller housings and a second set of hands. Three- and four-panel units add fixed lites that may have to be released before anything moves.
- Where the door is is access time, not a surcharge on parts. A ground-floor lanai in Carolina Forest and a twelfth-floor balcony on Ocean Boulevard take the same rollers and very different labor.
- How many doors is the one input that lowers the number. One service call covers the visit, so the second and third door on the same trip cost less per door than the first.
If the range looks workable, send it to the form with one click and we arrive already knowing the symptom, the size, and the access. If the answer is a new door rather than a repair, the replacement estimator prices that side, and the permit and impact glass page explains what a replacement in the coastal zone involves.
What will my sliding door repair cost?
Four questions. The range is built from the prices on the pricing page, so it is the range you would hear on the phone before anyone lifts a panel.
The service call is charged once per visit, not once per door, which is why the two- and three-door answers lower the per-door number. That is the same multi-door rule published on the pricing page, and it is why condo associations and owners with several sliders should book them together.
Send this estimate to the quote formAn estimate, not a quote. The firm number is given once the panel is out and the track has been seen, and it does not move after that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do these numbers come from?
The tables on the pricing page: a $95 to $175 service call, roller replacement $175 to $350 per door, a stainless track cap $150 to $300 with full track replacement $300 to $650, locks and handles $100 to $300, weatherstrip and interlock $100 to $250, and an insulated glass unit $350 to $900 per panel. Nothing here is invented for the calculator.
Why does a condo balcony door cost more than the same door in a house?
Access and technique. A high-rise balcony door often has a fixed panel or a header stop that has to come out before the slider will lift, and getting a 250-pound panel out and back with a balcony rail behind you is a two-person job. The parts are identical; the labor is not.
Why does the estimate go down for two or three doors?
Because the service call is charged once for the visit rather than once per door, and the per-door rate drops with volume on a multi-door trip. The pricing page says the same thing. If you have three sliders in one unit or a stack of units in one building, batching them is the single easiest way to lower the bill.
Do I have to give an email to see the result?
No. There is no gate and no signup. The range updates as you change the dropdowns, and sending it to the quote form is optional. If you do send it, the answers travel with it so we already know what the door is doing.
